•What are Early Learning Standards?
•What domains should they address?
•How can they be made appropriate for children from all backgrounds?
•How should they be used in early education?

REMARKS BY DR. GRACIELA ITALIANO-THOMAS, “Early Learning Standards for All Children” Dr. Thomas is the CEO of Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP), a nonprofit organization dedicated to making high-quality voluntary preschool universally accessible to every four-year-old in Los Angeles County.

ADDRESS BY SHARON LYNN KAGAN, “Standards in Other States” Dr. Kagan is the Virginia and Leonard Marx Professor of Early Childhood and Family Policy at Teachers College and recently co-authored the report, “Inside the Content: The Breadth and Depth of Early Learning Standards.”

INTERACTIVE SESSIONS How can standards be put into action through play? Participants will review video vignettes and engage in dialogue that is informed by the morning’s presentation.
